...would be to have people share this site with their friends/followers. I get that some people don't want to share it because to them this is quite personal but how will more people now where to send in stories if no one tells them? I love writing, but as one my best friends pointed out to me; I'm not a machine. I've been running this site since December of 2011 (from it's original address to this one) and have been posting updates more or less every week since. There are 52 weeks in a year and if we factor in a month total each year that I take out, that's still 48 weeks of updates multiplied by 6 years (up to Dec 2016) plus 2-3 updates per post sometimes. This year I've already posted over 40 updates and by the end of November there will be another 40. Then there's this year's calendar - 26 updates (one is a double feature) plus another 2 updates for the New Year. That's another 28. Last year's calendar had 26 updates too and the year before had 10. That's a lot of updating plus a lot of the new content has been written by me. I currently have one person who has sent me anything.
If we go by year then it's:
December 2011 - December 2012 - 48 updates minimum plus, say, 24 were double/triple posts.
December 2012 - December 2013 - same as above PLUS I had to rebuild the site in the April as the host's servers died and we lost more or less everything from when Michelle left.
December 2013 - December 2014 - same again PLUS an ENTIRE site rebuild with a new host and relaunch due to the host deleting everything and me not having any warning. If one was sent it would have been either to the original owner or to the girls that took over before me and no one let me know.
December 2014 - December 2015 - again; 48 updates plus, say, 24 were double/triple posts.
December 2015 - December 2016 - 44/46 updates plus 10 for the calendar.
December 2016 - December 2017 - 44/46 updates plus 26 for the calendar. Started work on the rebuild/launch on this host was back in May - I did ALL of the work in building it.
December 2017 - July 2018 (today) - entire site rebuild/relaunch and 44 updates (bi-weekly) so far plus another 40 to take us up until the end of November.
Add 26 for the calendar and another 2 updates for the New Year.
I also post to our Instagram account twice a week (plus on InstaStories) and update our Twitter as well as promote from my own accounts.
Then take into consideration that I do all the coding too and make the banners (shout out to Rhiannon who has made quite a few too and who did our header pic along with the calendar image last year. She's the only other person on the update schedule this year too).
And yet I still feel guilty when I take a week off here and there because of my mental health. Most of the new content has come from me - maybe I'll post how many stories I've written during my time here and how many weeks of updates I got out of them in my next new update.
So, yeah. It's a lot and for most of that time I was still in HS/college or working 40+ hours a weeks on top of volunteering in 2 other places. I have no idea how I managed it back then - and that's when people were sending in stories for me to post or sending in ideas and promoting the site.
I'm giving you my all - when I'm not updating the site I'm writing for it, making banners, promoting it or thinking of new ideas for stories and ways to improve the site/our social media presence - and, even though I do most of it myself, I do need your help in promoting it and sending in stories if you can. If you want writing guidelines sent to you or help then feel free to email me via our contact page.
Anyway, here's what you really came here for: the update.
